Ferret Breeders Out There

Keep in mind they are all ferret mills, just different.

Real Canadian Ferrets
Listen to this: CDC owns Real Canadian Ferrets and sells their ferrets under that name.  They used to be called Hagen. Hagen used to breed ferrets in Quebec but later changed to Real Canadian Ferrets (RC) in Manitoba. Some ferrets have a H in their ear from Hagen. A lot of the time people think the H is a sideways I. For some reason they encourage feeding your ferret vegetables and say never to feed them raw meat.... so I am assuming that they are a ferret mill as they don't really understand how to feed ferrets.

"...This does not mean by any stretch of the imagination that you should feed your ferret raw meat because this is something you should never do. They cannot handle raw meat and it may have disastrous results for the Real Canadian Ferrets or chocolate however, a pet food that is high in quality and made specifically for the ferrets in an acceptable diet. In order to feed them treats, it must be fruits and vegetable only and not too many treats as it could make them sick. When selecting the food for the Real Canadian Ferrets or any other ferrets, be especially conscious not to purchase any fish based ferret foods as the ferrets don't like it and it is not particularly good for them."

A quote from their website. CDC is also called Center for Disease Control, they do animal testing and for me I would make sense that they would own a ferret mill. But that is just my own personal speculation. They now tattoo a blue/green line inside the ear, some people also talk about 2 lines or a X.

Supposedly these guys were shut down for ferret breeding but they sell food. Here are some links to why, one shows a PETA video that is impacting.

These guys are a ferrets mill too, smaller but they also produce something really cool. Angora Ferrets! They are like any angora coated animal ie rabbits, rats ect.. They cost more, here is a link to their prices.

They tattoo a C into the ear as far as I could find out.

Path Valley Farm (PVF)

As far as I can find out they do not tattoo their ferrets at all. These guys are a smaller company and seem more ethical then others.

Dave Holden
In my research I also found out they may be a private breeder in Canada. His name is Dave Holden or David Holden. He is located in Manitoba. What I read about him he seems really nice, polite but sells sick ferrets, his ferrets do not have a good health track record, and also sells them to larger mills. I could not find any contact info yet, but he appears to be a small private mill. Some more info:

Marshal Ferrets (MF)
Marked by two blue or black dots. Largest breeder. We should all know about them and how they have so much public controversy. Link to their treatment:

Other Useful Links
Their is a Vancouver Island ferret group: http://covensteadferrets.freeservers.com/bijoux.html

That is all I found but thought I would share it.

The

The Manitoba Ferret Ass. has links to ferret breeders all around the world. http://www.manitobaferrets.ca/links/ferretbreeders.html

There are quite a few more ferrets breeders in the USA but I tried to cover the larger ones.

Hope you guys found this interesting and informative. What pet stores buy from what breeders keep changing. It would take a lot of calling and asking around. This is the information I could find out if it is incorrect please let me know and I will update it.
